This last week has been miserable. The whole family got sick and we have been pretty much useless.
I took my bike to work today hoping to get in a ride during lunch. Unfortunately, it was the same miserable windy and rainy 39 degrees that it has been for the last month.
Luckily...Monday is Gym night.
Tonight, I felt like changing my routine. I know I need to get a lot of riding in so I decided to ride on the bike for 20 minutes. My wife suggested I make it very hard. I turned it up most of the way so that I could only turn the pedals at 64 rpms.
I didn't care how slow I was turning the crank...just as long as I was turning it. My goal was to build overall strength.
I thought I wasn't going to make it past 2 minutes. I did make it past 2 minutes...I made it the full 20 minutes. I "rode" (whatever that means on these things) 7.15 miles.
I got off, got a drink of water and hopped on the treadmill. I decided to see if I could run for 20 minutes. I put it at 6.5 mph to go easy. As soon as I found my legs (.5m), I turned it up to 7.5. At 10 minutes, I turned it down to 6.5mph again.
In 20 minutes I "ran" (whatever that means on these things) 2.18 miles.
Hopefully, I can keep this up and improve it....But I need to continue doing my other strength exercises as well.
Tomorrow, I will probably be going swimming in the morning.
