6 months to go.
I have now completed each of the 3 events and I know what my weaknesses are.
...To sum it up quickly, I think I'm in over my head. Maybe I should have just stuck to a sprint?
-My 1 mile swim time is 32 minutes. I would like to take 4 minutes off of that.
-My 25 mile bike ride is a sloggy 1:58. I need to take 40 minutes off of that (small breakfast and no food before or during ride)...I think I got dehydrated and hit the wall.
-My 6.2 mile run is 60 minutes. I would like to take 8 minutes off of that.
All of these improvements must be made WHILE DOING ALL 3 EVENTS TOGETHER...and that is why I am really concerned.
I think I am going to start doing a modified program. I have to continue being mindful of my schedule as I don't want this to interfere with my ability to be a good husband and father and employee. This training should not begin consuming from any of those areas. I can still only swim so often since it costs $4. So I am going to look into the following routine:
Monday Night: Gym
Tuesday Morning: Full Swim
Wednesday: 20 minute ride/20 minute run
*Thursday: 20 minute ride/20 minute run
Alternating Weekends (AM or kids naptime): Full Run or Full Bike ride
*this may be too much?
Unfortunately, a lot of this is weather dependent right now.
