Volunteering for Ironman - Coeur d'Alene

Ironman distance:
   2.4m swim
   112m bike ride
   26.2m run

Ironman Kona (Hawaii) is the world-championship Ironman course.  In order to be one of the 2000+ athletes in this ironman, you have to qualify from one of many other Ironman races around the world.

...That means, when you see somebody racing Ironman Kona, they have already run it at least once that year (if not up to 4 times)...and come in near the top finisher in that event.  There are other special accomodations for para-athletes and VIPs.

The nearest Ironman qualifier to us is in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.  I found this video of the last 10 minutes before the cutoff:

There is no other event where the last people to finish are more inspiring than the people who finish first.  There is no other event where the last people get just as much credit as the first people. Just looking at the people who stay at the line until 12AM is amazing.

Anyways, if you know anything about Coeur d'Alene, Ironman turns this place into a party.

I have decided that I would really like to volunteer to help out for Ironman.  Whether it is stripping wetsuits, catching bikes, helping aid stations, or monitoring the course...this would be an amazing opportunity.

These athletes are some of the most inspiring people in the world, and I would love to see it live as the announcer yells, "YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!"

...Besides...Being around the top athletes in the US is pretty inspiring.

Andy Potts won Ironman Coeur d'alene and was the first one out of the water in Kona (Finished 21st).

...So...As soon as we can find out how to take care of the kids, we will probably be there working hard and playing hard on June 26th.   :D
