Today is the 100 Day Mark for the triathlon. As I am training, I am going to try to keep the following things in my mind to keep from going crazy.
-Don't take myself so seriously
-I'm not making money doing this. Im spending money. Stop acting like life depends on it. It doesn't. In fact, life depends on me not doing it.
-The entire concept is ridiculous. Don't try to find reason or purpose in ridiculous ideas...You will just turn yourself into a ridiculous person.
-Its a swim, a bike ride, and a jog. That is a nice day at the park. Don't miss it because you are so focused on a silly race.
-Don't sweat the numbers.
-Cutting off 4 seconds from a swim lap is good...if your swimming a lap. But you are going to get kicked in the head several times and swim in zig-zag patterns, that 2.2 minutes is just detail. There is no point in aiming to cut numbers unless they are BIG numbers.
-90% of the population can't swim .5 miles. Even fewer people can swim 1 mile.
-Same thing with Bike riding 25 miles.
-Same thing with Running 6 miles.
-Don't get depressed because 100,000 people ON A GLOBE of 6.7 Trillion are better athletes than you.
-Worrying about the .0000149% of the world population that is better than you in this...that is sweating the numbers.
-Don't think about yourself
-Think about the people who wish they could, but can't
-Think about the people who are, but don't think they can.
-There are people who have never seen a bicycle, nevertheless ridden one 25 miles.
-You can be light hearted and encourage those around you.
-God is there
