2/28/2011 - Gym Workout

It has been a long and frigid 2 weeks. It has been snowing, raining, sleeting, and I have not gotten any nerve to get outside to exercise. I am not a big fan of my teeth hurting when I do anything...So, it has been a very slow week.

I did decide to do a little test at the Gym. I wanted to see if I could keep a good sub-8minute mile pace.

When I completed my first Sprint Triathlon, I really wanted to lose 5 minutes on each event. My 5k run time was 28 minutes. This would mean putting my 5k run time at 23 minutes.

So last night, I ran on the treadmill for 15 minutes.

I ran 2.03 miles in 15 minutes. This is 8.12mph, or a 7.28 minute mile pace. I am pleased with that. If I can keep that for another 1.2 miles, I will have 22:55 minute 5k...which was my goal.

My workout:
15 minutes on treadmill.
10 minutes on bike @95 rpm.

-I also learned that in order to pedal the entire circle on the bike (instead of just pushing down on the pedals), I need to keep my toes pointed up. This would explain why riding shoes look like elf shoes...to help people with that. I am going to focus on keeping my toes pointed up from now on to make sure I am exercising the correct muscles in my legs.

leg curls: 2 sets of 8 @ 100 lbs
leg lifts: 2 sets of 8 @ 90 lbs
