So you can go to REI and get REI brands of sporting goods. Unfortunately, REI is now the Nordstroms of fleece and they have their prices really inflated.
I was lucky enough to find a multisport store here in Seattle called Speedy Reedy. I found them on facebook and 'like'd them.
Yesterday afternoon, they posted a deal they are having. All 2010 gear is 70% off and they have a selection of wetsuits for $25.
I went down there today to check out the selection. I am glad I did.
I grabbed 3 suits, and ended up only trying on 2. The first one was too small. The second one fit as well as a wetsuit is going to fit. It also appeared unused (The tag was still on it and still had fold marks from being in a box). There was no bother in trying on the third one, as it had clearly been used. It was sleeveless...but it was also $25.
So I did it. I bought an untouched 2010 19 Pipeline Sleeveless wetsuit for $25. I also checked out the 2010 gear and found a pair of Descente C6 Trishorts. The sticker said $100...but they rung up as $30.
I also bought 2 tubes of perpetuem tablets. I was going to get the powder as some people don't like solids...but then I thought about it.
-When I am riding, I really don't like to stop pedaling, reach down, grab the water bottle and squirt it into my mouth...
I chose to get the solids because I can just pop a tablet into my mouth and chew it while riding. Granted, I may need to wash it down...but this should minimize the 'no peddaling and drinking issue.'
I guess I will see how it goes on Sunday on the full 25 mile ride.
I think I am all set for July. I feel great and know that the only thing limiting me now is myself.
Thanks Speedy Reedy!!!
