Today is my birthday.
I woke up and went downstairs. The kids were eating Krispy Kreme donuts and there was a present on the table.
My awesome wife had bought me a Garmin Forerunner 305 with heart rate monitor!
Woohoo! Good Birthday!
So what is a guy to do? Turn it on and record the first trip, of course! (Without reading instructions is mandatory)
So I recorded my drive to work. When I got to work, I installed the software. It was very easy. This is what I got:
So it shows the image of the course. At the bottom is a graph in which you can plot your speed, elevation, hill grade, pace, and view it on a time domain or a distance domain.
So I went to the "Totals" tab:
Here you can see your stats. As you can see, my drive into work took 27:50, and it is a 12.47mile drive. My average speed is 26.9mph (yes, that is how we roll on the eastside) and my max speed is 42.7mph.
I haven't found all of the features yet, but I noticed that you can export the data to a file. I am going to see if I can extract the data from that file and create a .kml file for google earth with it.
I am looking forward to training with a correct heart rate and being able to log my data. Get ready for some visuals!
