This afternoon I went for a bike ride. The weather was beautiful and I am grateful that the doom over Seattle is finally lifting. It is finally feeling like Spring.
Because Marymoor Park in Redmond charges a $1 parking fee, I chose to park at Idylwood Park just down the street.
The Parking fee at Marymoor really gets my goat. It is enough money to have them write you a ticket if you don't pay it, but it also doesn't seem like enough money for you to actually pay. $1 is enough for you to think to yourself, "This is really lame. I'll just take my chances..."... Since the weather is nicer, I figure they are going to be doing more patrolling, so I shouldn't press my luck and just go somewhere else. I don't like supporting that park anyways. I don't even know if it can be qualified as a park anymore.
Besides. Idylwood park is a great location for doing triathlon training. You can swim, and Redmond did a great job with lining the major streets with Bike lanes and running lanes. The park is .7 miles from the burke-gilman trail...So you can do an entire triathlon training routine.
For the swim, you can swim along the docks near shore...and for running/riding, you can just run and ride in safe lanes over to the Burke Gilman trail and you have 56+ ride/run miles available to you.
While I was there, I put my hand in the water to see if it is wetsuit-ready. I have a sleeveless wetsuit. I figured I could probably get into the water with it on...but I don't know how long I would be able to stay in for. I opted to just wait a few weeks. I will take my wetsuit to the pool on monday to see how different it is to swim with bouyancy that my body does not have.
