So my wife and I spoiled each other this weekend by going to Sports Authority in Crossroads and buying some training gear.
Since my wife is a personal trainer, and since I need to start my half-mary training we both decided we should start gearing up.
We didn't get each other Christmas presents, so this was it.
What I got for my winter training:
-Gloves for running. When it is colder than 50 degrees, I have had to put my hands in my sleeves or hold them behind my back. No more.
-Running Tights. I have been and will continue to be a skeptic of dudes that wear tights on runs...however at this point, I really need them for the weather. I have not used them (I will tomorrow) so it is hard to say how they will work out, but I anticipate that it will be better than running in jeans or thin trackpants.
-A pullover hooded top. I've got to say...UnderArmor looks really good on a manequin...not on me. I tried 2 different kinds of cold weather underarmor tops. Stretchy material looks really funny when it hangs loosely on your body...But I did find a nice Nike pullover that isn't spandex and has an oversized hood that feels very comfortable and warm.
....Let me tell you...when I wear all 3, I am not a sight to behold.
I also got another hooded sweatshirt that I really like.
I did not get a bike trainer, which I was thinking I should probably get. They are quite expensive and probably really won't fit into our way of life. I am going to continue the 30 minute stair climbs and see if that advanced my riding ability this Spring. If it hasn't, I will invest in one then, however right now I am going to see if stairclimbs are a sufficient replacement in the meantime. Stairclimbs are free. Bike Trainers are $200+.
Unfortunately, it is time to begin that half-mary training and use the training towards an olympic triathlon later in the summer. I am looking at this plan with some modifications:

Since I will be doing other training (gym, swimming, cycling), I will have to keep a close eye on my rest days and my run days based on the previous exersizes I have done that week.
The race is May 5th, so it is time to start now.
